Legislative Seminar and State Convention 2011

For 2011 the Florida League of Women Voters has combined the annual Legislative Seminar and the biennial State Convention into a single event. Members won't have to choose which event they have the time and resources to attend -- this year everyone will have the opportunity to do both!

The LWVF Legislative Seminar is scheduled for March 23-24, and enables League members to make personal contact with government leaders. Effective grassroots lobbying begins by building a relationship with elected officials, and Leaguers can influence Legislators by talking to them face-to-face in Tallahassee.

The LWVF State Convention is scheduled for March 25-26, and that is where members do the very important League work of electing new officers, passing our budget, and setting program items for the coming year.

The combined event will be held in Tallahassee with The Doubletree Hotel serving as the central location. The hotel is offering a special room rate of $105/night, plus free parking and breakfast, and it's within walking distance to all activities. Event planning is still in the early stages, but will include:

• Welcome dinner on the 22nd floor of the Capitol overlooking beautiful Tallahassee, including a very important guest speaker to be announced soon.
• Reception in the Historic Capitol Senate Chambers with all newly elected officials.
• State House Lobbying of your local delegation and elected officials from across the state.
• Fun and informative Convention surprise dinner Friday night, including another guest speaker and League activity.
• Optional tours and activities to make your time as action packed and busy as you want it to be.
