Legislative InterviewsThe Florida League needs your help to acquaint your legislators with your local League and its members, to inform them about legislative priorities for Florida, and to obtain information for the state League's professional and volunteer lobbyists. Legislative priorities for the 2009 session are being developed right now with input from all the local Leagues. Once they are finalized, the Florida League will publish a special guide to help you prepare for an interview with your representatives. Until then, you can get a feel for the interview process by downloading a copy of the 2008 Legislative Interviews Packet. The 2009 session begins on March 3rd. Until then, your legislators can be easily reached at their local offices. LWVF would like you to visit your senator and representative well before next March, to get an idea of where they stand on issues of concern to the League. Once the 2009 Legislative Interviews Packet is available, find your legislators' local offices and follow these steps:
It's also a very good idea to conduct your interviews in pairs. It's both easier and a little less intimidating that way, as one of you can engage the legislator while the other takes notes. If you want company, contact us and we'll find you a sidekick! |
